hi just joined this site and looking for some help with my ford courier van please when starting there is a loud bang sometimes coming from under the van near the gear stick it happens when the starter engages it bangs and then starts this does not happen all the time if anyone can help many thanks brad sorry its a x reg 2000/2001

 

Sounds like it might be a worn engine mount causing the exhaust system to hit the bodywork as the engine moves?

Or the exhaust isn't securely/correctly mounted.
Missing exhaust mounting rubber maybe..

 

usualy the dog bone mount mount, from g/box to cradle. change all exhaust rubbers while your there too
