Is it possible to buy and build a focus zetec turbo for about 4.5 grand?? Selling my st Tdci soon as don't get used much and ain't keen on the diesels lol.
So bin thinking these last few weeks about a zetec turbo focus.

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

It can be done, get a cheap st170 for about 1500 and spenr the rest on converting it to turbo, that way you have good brakes already and all the toys inside

 

I have bin thinking of a 170 but what needs doin to engine? Management? I know the bottom ends are ideal for zvh but dunno what's required for zt??

 

4.5k is not a lot of cash, but using an st170 you can get 300bhp ish with a pretty much standard engine, need uprated valve springs, pipework, manifolds turbo, exhaust, clutch management.
doable, but very little room to improve the spec unless you pour some real cash into it.
all my opinion, how handy are you at this sort of thing?
that will be the determining factor.
or just save a little more and get a focus rs, all the good bits then.
