Default escos calipers on a S1, HELP (clearance)

got 300mm discs to go on my s1 and i was intending to use s2 calipers (HI SPEC Conversion),i have been given some escort cos calipers so thought i would try them,
they fit but only have 1mm between inside of rim and caliper,
is this sufficient or am i best of grinding some of the caliper,
cheers

surely that gap is constant so any clearance is ok?

If I recall correctly, from several topic discussions over tha last couple of years on here and RSOC BBS, the S2 caliper was actually something like 5% more efficient over the Cos caliper as the pad is longer and has greater contact surface area at the point on the discs where there is most leverage (the outer edge)....

BTW, when I was running Cos 4x4 calipers, I had very little clearence. As long as there is more than 1 mm between the spokes and the caliper than there won't be an issue..

There needs to be more than 1mm clearence on the spokes to allow pad wear and the caliper to adjust on the slides...

doesnt the pad wear make the calliper go inward --- away from the caliper

would of thought if it clears when brakes built up n rim on they your rite by however much... just remember weights on ya alloy may get in the way too

Yes. Sorry, was thinking of something completely different for some reason...

Ignore my last comment about the spokes....as long as there is clearence with un worn pads then they will be ok...

i have tried them and i dont think they are going to fit, the pad overlaps
the edge of the disc by about 10mm so are no good,
i am currently trying to make sense of them and fit them but am struggling,
might end up sending them back

Bells from Mike R. S2 Calipers and Cossie 2wd discs is the way to go. I'm sure you can use cossie calipers too but cant remember if it's 2wd or 4wd tyou need

It's in the RS1600i section on the RSOC BB somewhere
