Default 3rd gear running probs help please

Hi, i have a mk4 bonus that i have bought as a project with rs turbo running gear, when i accelerate in 1st and 2nd it will go all way to red band but in 3rd it will only go to roughly 4k and the rev counter go to zero and looses all power as if i have put the brakes on till i change up to 4th, any ideas wot this could be??

the engine is a mfi rs turbo
gearbox is a fiesta turbo non lsd i was told........ i have had this rebiult and an lsd fitted as i thought this was the problem but it still happens! any ideas what could be causing this?

thanks for reading and hope you can suggest anything

Just to let you know i have fitted the recon gearbox new clutch so cant be this

cheers, Nick

Does it do it in 4th/5th gear as well?

Have you got a boost gauge, if so what is it reading?

Do you know if the ECU is chipped?

Really need to find out what boost it's doing, it could be set too high and then, depending on if it's chipped or not, could be hitting 'boost cut' and cutting out the ignition.

Can you see if it's got a bleed valve on the turbo pipework?

Mark the bleed valve so you know where it's set at the moment, then screw it in (anti-clockwise) a turn, and see if it cures it.

Best to get it set up properly, don't know anyone over that way that specialises in RSTs.
I used to live nr Worcester!

Could try hi-tech (near Merry Hill)

It sounds like it is overboosting in 3rd gear onwards, you don't get the same load on the engine in 1st and 2nd.

I've got a pace cooler on mine but really like my mates airtec, can get fans on rad with that kit which keeps his ALOT cooler than mine!

As said above it will be The boost cut that's holding you back!
