Default Couple of Qs non Ford related

Well i joined the most popular seat forum and got 1 reply on 2 topics in 24 hours.. not that popular, though they did answer one of my questions.

Basically i have a couple of issues with the car, its a Leon Cupra 2002 model.

Im getting a small amount of water dripping from somewhere below the re-circ valve, just above the subframe on the bulkhead area, seems to be coming from the sound deadening? it drips onto the subframe and onto the floor, leaves a hand sized puddle, then seems to stop? Its not lost or loosing any coolant, and whats dripping out is just plain cold water, doesnt smell or taste of anything? Could this be condensation from the climate control being on inside the car?

Also when using the blowers in the car, i either get the smell of burnt oil/petrol fumes or a nasty musty smell, smells like old wallpaper when its damp after being stripped off house walls? What would cause this and what would be the solution? There is no issues with the engine or exhaust?

It's the condensation draining out of the evaporator out of your heater box, not sure on the Seat but most cars have a rubber drain pipe that comes out of the floor/bulkhead.

The smell will be from mould/bacteria in the evaporator, try running the air con flat out with it on hot for a while, may help, or get some air-con treatment which is a spray and follow the instructions on it's use. Wynns do some stuff in an aerosol I've used before. You could have a breather pipe split somewhere and getting fumes from that also, I know the 1.8Ts suffer from the pipes around and under the inlet manifold splitting.

Regarding forums, if it's Seat Cupra net, it's been going 10yrs or more, bet the same questions have been asked time and time again, worth searching first. Most people will probably look at a new post and think, sod that, it's been asked hundreds of times and not bother replying.

yeah it was that site, still whenever you search for stuff you have to go through 30 posts just to find what your after and still left unsure.. lol

Funny you should mention split breather, on the inlet at the front, silver long thing its got like black dust sprayed up the front of it coming from underneath? Could panel filter cause the smell to? Ill give those a go. thanks
