Default Aeroquip vs goodridge

Hi folks

Quick question, I've bought some new shiny tanks for my ST and want to do it all in braided hoses, I need quite a lot of stuff, like -12, -8 and -6 hoses and fittings!

Now the goodridge stuff in looking at £1100 and the aero quip stuff I'm looking at £600, is there that much difference between the two makes?

Thanks in advance!

Alex

Unusual to see such a huge price difference between those 2 brands as most of their kit is priced very similar.

oh yeah, if your doing any fuel lines, ask for a conformity certificate as its only a matter of time before the wankers (sorry government) push modified cars through more testing along IVA lines and having a certificate from the manufacturer showing conformity to the relevant BS or european standards for fuel hoses (if not already marked on hose..) will be useful.

That's handy to know! I don't think there are any markings on the hoses at all, also can't really see the mots becoming that thorough, especially checking hoses but you never know i suppose!

Well for example, I needed 16m of -12 hose and was looking at about £540 for burtons, and I called think automotive and is more lil £300, but that's goodridge hose from burtons and aero quip hose from Think auto!

Thanks for the advice people, and I will try and get some pictures of my set up once it's done! Got a new swirl pot and 044 pump and got my oil tank to mount over the weekend!

16 metres of -12. Christ what are you piping up?

If you are buying that much there will 100% be deals to be had for a bulk buy so try going as direct as possible.

st turbo, its not the mot that will need to see it.

There are moves afoot, and have been for several years to regulate the modified car industry on safety grounds.

Even at present, any heavily modified ford could in theory be reported by a tester to the DVLA as a radically altered vehicle and banned from the road until inspected by a DVLA official. If enough alterations are done, then its likely you could be forced through IVA.

Theyve already been doing it with obviously RAV/kit cars like cobras running on jag ID or MR2s that havent had the ferrari body conversion registered.

Its a good idea to future proof yourself if you want to keep it road legal.

Make sure you really take your time fitting the Torques ones and double check everything.

Ive got lots of experience with these kinds of fittings and used lots of the Torques ones as well as hundreds of genuine Aeroquip and Goodridge fittings and I've had a couple of fittings fail.

Describing something as more realistically priced does not always mean you are getting the best or same quality.

Customer service from Alex is very good though.

I plumbed up my kit car with hoses and fittings from Torques and it sailed through IVA test, so another vote for Torques from me
