Guys, the brakes on my S2 feel utterly shocking coming from a 172 clio. I want to keep the standard rims so was thinking cossie 2wd 4pots. But are these much better than anything else I can fit from a newer ford? Or is the difference negligeble??
Is a bigger master cyliner/servo a good idea??
Please help before I plough it into the back of a transit at the lights, lol
(obv I will do a full fluid change)

ABS has already been ditched dude. think I might need a new master cylinder as 2 of the ports have been crudely blocked off (plus new seals and stuff would be a bonus) so wondered if a newer/bigger servo would be a good idea.
So 4x4 cossie brakes are a LOT better than standard S2 stuff?

phil looking at your picture in the other thread it just looks like the resovoir thats had the returns blocked, how many metal brake pipes come out of the master cylinder and where do they run to?

There is alot of difference between 2WD braking and 4x4, the former is far superior!

The sticky at the top of the room details what I believe to be the easiest upgrade to S2 brakes retaining the original wheels.
Front: Cossie 4x4 callipers with Cossie 2WD 283mm disks.
Rear: Cossie 2WD rear disks with RS2000/XR4x4 callipers.
Both very easy upgrades and you can keep the original rims without taking any grinding tools to the bodies of the callipers.
Take a look at the sticky!

OK cool. Wasnt sure if the 4pots would be massively better or not, but I suppose the 283mm dics will be better than the 260mm on the S2, lol
Better start amassing more parts then, lol

There is a world of diference between the RST setup and the Cossie Setup. I warped a few sets of 260mm disks and found they faded quickly on a spirited drive.
For my Cossie setup I used Ferodo DS Performance (Previously called DS 2000) pads and oe spec disks all round. No ABS, no bias or load prop valves, it's in my XR3i cabrio so it has an XR3i master cylinder with 4 outputs. It brakes very well and more importantly, evenly.

I was just going to say - mk3 mondeo calipers and 300m discs, apparently they do go under Cosworth 15' lattice alloys but not the sharktooth 4x4 alloys, something to do with the dish??
I am only regurgitating what I have read on another site, I am looking to do this on my 8v Saff.

No no, use mk3 mondeo calipers, 20 a side off mk3 mondeo spares and focus ST 170 discs, no 'cosworth tax' and cheap pads! I had a set of Brembo pads which were awesome on my fiesta! I just need to know if they fit under 15" RS turbo dog legs!
