Default 3 door prices

just sold my st which i bought after regretably selling the saph,
was thinking about the new focus rs,but may go for a 3 door.
what do people think is a reasonable price to pay.
couple of examples here are they priced right or a bit high.

Depends whether you want a mint concourse example or a good example you can use.
I do know of a few coming up for sale on the RSOC soon, one is around the 14k price.
Not mine I hasten to add, mine are staying with me

I've seen a few stunning examples up recently for 12k, I've also seen some not stunning ones up for 15-18k.... take your time and you should get something decent for 12-13k

The black 3 door is a friend of mines old car really nice car and got anything it needed regardless of cost ,

If you were interested in it I,d imagine you,d be able to get it at a better price than advertised as the current owner puts it up nd down weekly ,

You need to do your homework on these cars

As superb examples start to demand top money people with the old shitters think there car is worth the same , so be prepared to travel the country looking at bags of shit at stupid money

You will turn up a good example one day but as said dont expect them all to be as described

I buy about 10% of cars i view these days as i get told there all MINT only to find 90% are total piles of shite ,
I remember the good old days when i bought 90% of the cars i viewed

One way of telling a shitter is USUALLY they will never tell you there asking price , they always say , " i dont know , make me an offer " On a car you havent seen, lol , so when you get there and find its a total bag of shite they can then say " but i never said it was worth X you made the offer " Hence why now i will not even start the van unless the seller has said what he wants

There are a massive amount of timewasters out there these days trying to pass off shit cars as MINTERS , lol

70% of the cossies that are about

A " shitter " is a car that the body is either rotten / had a bad paintjob / been crashed at some point and had bad repairs

trim is tatty

engine bay is tatty and the engine sounds like a skeleton having a wank in a biscuit tin

etc etc

sadly this is about 90% of these so called MINT cars i go and look at

2007 Kam. I was reading this ad and just thinking i miss my moonstoner and wish i kept the shell i built it back up. that was a cheap car with loads of good bits - i stopped counting at 10K in parts

Would love another genuine one but sadly i cannot afford a real one now with other priorities in my life now, so will settle for the saph rep and 3dr rep i currently have

Out of interest what do you think mines would be worth? 1986 black 3 door, 72,000 miles, fresh engine clutch, comp struts, adjustable tca's , all new brakes and wheel bearings ect, reckoned standard wheels with new tires, underside restro all powder coated beam ect, 044 pump stage 3 set up, 500 cooler ect ect, only thing is it was a cat d about 10 years ago, had the NSF wing changed (genuine ford part) and the front bumper was cracked, mint interior and mint straight paint work, lots of history too, would the cat d knock a lot off the price caus really it's a mint car with no problems what so ever and never been welded. Just curious really

It's never been welded ive got pics somewhere of the underside when we did the restro, I've never been satisfied with what I've been told of why it's a cat d, the guy I bought it from said it was stolen then recovered and the insurance paid out to fix the door locks and steering lock ect, but another guy off here who owned it before him said it was never stolen and it was bashed on the NSF and the wing and bumper was replaced, when I did that reg checker thing it sait it was stolen so really fuck knows what happened to her in a previous life, all I can be sure of is it's mint now, all the glass is etched with the reg number and the floor number has never been tampered with, I paid £5900 for it in 2007 and have spent a small fortune on it as is the way with these cars, the reg is D994KBO if anyone has the ability to find anything out, would be appreciated , I've no plans on selling it soon it was more a matter of curiosity more than anything else

Write up & pics good.

got there & found

back arches going,
lower front doors going,
Manifold water stained & scruffy engine bay,
rear chassis needing welding,
headcloth hanging like a marquee,
seats worn & saggy,
filthy in the boot,
rear seat release knobs snapped,
And little evidence of underside resto.

At this point i walked away from the back alley as the local plod turned up & started doing checks on all vehicles in sight including mine!!

Shame really as it looked promising as stated IMMACULATE!!!

Shit that does look nice!!!

Personally cat d isn't really anything these days when you see the amount of cars getting full restorations which amounts to more work than what give the car the cat in the first place, get a few pictures up I'd like to see what condition its in.

You lying Bastard!! I strongly sugest you remove these comments. That car is well known by members on this forum. Im not having some skinny little prick slate that car, you have no right. The guy who done the mot is on this site and he will tell you what the underside is like and also theres a pile of photos of the undersite resto. Also worth mentioning is that there is a small crack appearing at the bottom of one arch. Its 25 years old you fool. You looking at a 6k cossie, not concourse. Dick head!!!

Im sure Paul will back me up on this, as the car was took to him before any further movement, but i believe i got a superb 3 door for my money.

Paid 12k cash in January

White, 62k, fresh stage 3 only 1k old, interior excellent, uncracked dash. Cxn's.

More than that i went on Pauls advice on the body. Really really good on top and just as good underneath.

I bought it as a car that will get used regular, but not everyday. I like to keep them properly clean but its my first Cosworth so ive bought it for the experience.

I was really lucky too, car actually never went up for sale, and it was the first one i viewed. Dont hear of that happening very often.
