Default 1st breakdown last night...

Hi all,

Not been around for a while, hope everyone is well!

Last night for the first time in 3 years of owning my escort, it broke down! Got recovered by RAC, and I can not fault them...within 15 minutes of ringing they were with me!

The clutch has gone, can anyone tell me a rough figure to get a clutch supplied and fitted?

Thanks in advance

Mr Clutch?????????

Check gearbox oil when you get it back, I know of two different mr clutch garages that have forgot to put oil back in the box.

The gearbox didnt last long after that.

Or if they do put it in expect it to piss out at a very steady stream on the way home like mine did when I went to one years ago.

Another non vote for mr clutch, lasted 16 months in a ka, also had a few extra wires hanging down after collecting the car, being the exhaust sensor!

fitted a ford one myself after that, that was over 4 years ago now!

My advise, buy a clutch from fords, and get a local independent garage to fit it, if possible get recomendations via friends and family on a garage.

It's gonna be sad to see her go, i love the car to bits, i just can't justify spending out on the clutch when there is more problems with her, its going to cost more than its worth

To be fair, I paid £300 3 years ago this month, and Scort has done me proud, Ive had it looking great colour wise, and its done lots of miles with me, and even been round the nurburgring last year, but i think its time to say goodbye...

It's not just the clutch, the mot is due in april along with the tax, and the mot is not going to pass the emissions! There is more problems with the engine, not that Scort shows them, she's driven so well all this time apart from a few niggly issues that weren't really big problems but it's going to end up costing me a fortune when i need a car on the road, reliable and going to last!

I think they were £300 to £380 fitted... my dad went through 3 of them in his mk6 escort.
