Don't often see these at public auction - on a private plate, but it's a 2003, done 47,000 miles, full history - looks a nice one too - main dealer part ex

Haha you thinking about taking a gander Mark?? From the details it looks like it's worth a look... and as you say, could end up selling for really nice money too.

To be honest, anything out of the ordinary usually fetches more than what you think at auction! I've just logged in to my Manheim online account and here are some more details:

MOT Expiry Date17/10/2012
Registered Keepers 3
Services 9
Date of Last Service
(Odometer) 18/10/2011
(44,667)
Reg Date Mar 2003

Here is the condition report but not sure if it will work
http://www.manheimremarketing.co.uk/...11936818-48326

CAP book prices

Retail £9650
Clean £7,650
Average £6,850

I may have a sneaky online bid when it goes through tomorrow but I don't think it will be cheap at those prices!

Why would a main dealer put a car like that through an auction? I would have thought that it would be a car that they could get reasonable money on the forecourt unless there's anything costly to sort out on it.

Jardines enter a lot of really nice stuff to be honest - alot of people ask the same question 'why send to auction?' but they have a very strict policy whereby they send ALL part ex's to auction - good or bad !

It's a real straight car too - condition report is a bit OTT in my opinion stating that it needs 'bodyshop' attention and there 'may be parts missing' - not the case as far as I could see !

As you've seen the car, expect a PM from Mark (TIFF) asking some more detailed questions...

Surley no dealer would put this through an auction unless it's knacked majority of the time the staff get the choice of them too before auction and am sure there'd be a couple of mechanics would have snapped it up if it was any good

You clearly have no idea about main dealers! They really can't be arsed with 9 year old focus' so would just get rid at the soonest available opportunity. The quality if cars at manheim auctions is usually very good, especially the ex fleet stuff.

Agree with phil69a i work at a main dealer and usualy if the px is more than 5-6years old iirc they dont even entertain putting it on the forcourt and it goes straight to auction.a ca r that stood out for me we sent recently was a 07plate astra 1.9cdti sri 150 with xpac kit on and the big wheels and full leather.lovely car hardly a mark on it and even that went straight to auction.and i dont know if are place are just a bunch of fookers or what but we dont get 1st dibs on px/ cars going to auction .

I clearly do as 2 of my friends work in different dealerships and get first chance of the part exs we buy them for cheap as chips and either run them for a bit or just cleaning them up and put them straight back out making a tidy profit.

It sold for £7000.

Most of the larger dealer groups send everything to auction - there's only very few now I believe that let local traders and 'mates' buy the cars cheap and sell at a profit - it's profit they could be having themselves unless of course there's a few quid going in the pocket of the salesman/manager in return for the favour !!

Thats why most are changing over to auction only policies now - to cut that out !

Langer, you and your mates are lucky ! - just hope and pray that a larger group doesn't take over the dealership and put an end to it !

£7000 is pretty realistic money for one of these at the moment IMO.

I wouldn't say there isn't any profit at all in that car, as with most at auction now! One of main reasons I had to shut up shop

Was going to say bet it goes for what you can buy private for, been to manheim colchester a few times, and everything that goes through, seems to be the same or more than private???

was that price 7K all in, or are the fees on top?

If a private seller bought it, and it's as straight as it looks, then that's a good buy at 7k

Show me a proper main dealer that has a Mk1 Focus RS for sale.....
Dealers cant be arsed with old cars, it doesnt matter what model they are. The only reason you get the chance to buy these cars is that they will go to auction, just like the focus has.

Agree with both comments above. If a trader has picked that up i don't think they're going to make anything worthwhile on it in terms of profit.

If i wanted one of those for myself i'd have snapped it up if it was as good as it looks

Thats a very good price for a straight 47k miler IMO

Agreed its not got much in it for a trader.

Where i work we deal with 3 year old S-line Audis from Auction, beleive it or not we are making upto 5k a pop on some, problem is sometimes they hang around for a while so see what your saying!, and the p/x bangers 2kish we bang on ebay and they fly out straight away so bangers do seem much easier to sell, but they are also proper hassle!
