Default fiesta tdci problem

hiya ive got a 07 plate 1.6tdci fiest i was driving earlier and the engine warning light cam on and then the car stoped running i turned the ignition of and the restarted it all was ok then re did same light on car stopped says on dash check owners manual.so left it for a while restarted and drove fine do i need a dyagnostic check on this is is it something common .also if the light isnt on can they find the prob does the ecu keep the codes store on ecu cheers

The code(s) should remain logged in the ecu.

According to the European laws the light should have remained on for at least 3 trips.
The code should be saved, but most diesels tend to forget it.
So when the light is On again, dod NOT switch off the engine when you park it in front of the dealer.
