Default Ford buying advice

Hi guys, im in need of a new car. i havent had an 'interesting' ford for a long time so im looking into buy another. BUT due to my situation i dont have much money to splash out on something flash. £800ish doesnt buy what id call a great car but thats all i have to play with so im just wondering,

if you were in my situation what would you buy. it must be taxed and mot'd. it can need a bit of tlc as i dont mind putting some elbow grease in to tidy it up. not panel damage or engine rebuilds.

I dont mind if it looks like its been dragged through a max power magazine as long as it doesnt have any lasting damage such as silly holes from multiple spoilers and 8 inches of fibreglass! I think putting cars back into standard trim is a nice way to show your interest in a clean tidy car if its say a xr or rs of some sort?

im thinking maybe a puma, fiesta of some sort, maybe? wouldnt mind a diesel replica of a xr2i/rs. Also would i be regarded as a chav is i drove a fiesta zetec s even though im 30 this year lol

any ideas or advice is gladly received!

Puma 1.7 definitely. Best car you can buy for that sort of money and with cheap running costs. Definitely in terms of driving and entertainment value anyway. A genuinely great car IMO and to loads of people in the know. Just watch the rust!

If you wanted something bigger, lazier and more family-orientated then an ST24.

I'm 30 this year and i couldn't give a flying fuck if anyone thinks I'm a chav in my Sapph lol

You'd mentioned Pumas - what about a Racing Puma? They looks awesome and are supposed to be amazing to drive.

*edit*

missed the £800 budget part

Escort GTI? Nice looking body kit, just needs a bit more power under the bonnet!

job done.

Even some change to slap a set of puma millenium or fiesta zetec S wheels on in in graphite to tone down the girlyness. As said, hoot of a car, go well and handle nice.

if not then I would look to a mk5 fiesta zs, still look nice when in standard form.

I picked up a 1.7 puma for a mates wife, I like it, guttsy little buggers.I have had three Fiesta ZS's and loved them all, both great little cars.

That one i posted may look grubby, but is cheap, good polish up and it would look a gem, the lumps alone go for up to £500 on ebay as all the fiz boys want them for the conversions.
