I originally bought this car back to life in 2000
I found it in a local free ad for Ł500 and it had been stood in a garage for 7 or so years
Here is a collection of pics
I painted it Standox Monte Carlo Magic on the toss of a coin
Date of Liability 01 03 2014
Date of First Registration 20 04 1983
Year of Manufacture 1983
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1597cc
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type PETROL
Export Marker N
Vehicle Status SORN Not Due
Vehicle Colour GREY
it was put back to orig col at some point ( the above paint job in monte was many years ago)
its now got a 1.8 zetec on bike carbs
wants some work but well worth saving
That doesn`t look like the same car to me, new rear panel no tow eye and repainted again??? under bonnet pics would be good.
I did a lot of small mods to the brake pedal "across the bulkhead" linkage assy
I removed all the excessive free play and ended up with a brake pedal that felt like is does not have a LHD to RHD conversion fitted which a lot of RS1600i's suffered with - if I remember correctly I used cut down machine bolts.
They should still be there as was no need to remove em as my mods worked so well !
only jokin bud you can see the work you did was spotton
the amount of time it would of taken to spray fillerfoam wait for it to go off
then shape it then cover in body filler an sand
they could of made the small piece of chassis bloody idiots
heres some pics of what i have done to it (im not a pro so standards may not be up to some peoples work)
n/s and o/s inner and outer rear sills
most of outer skin on o/s rear chassis leg
repair on n/s chassis spring cup area
inner and outer rear lower qtrs on both sides
stripped of all old underseal rust etc and brush painted zinc phosphate primer on
Nice too see it still alive, from what I remember I paid, for front wings rear arches and a couple of floor pans. I bought it off a young lad in Cleveland and it had been messed around with! Filler in the seat mounts and some stodgy welding here and there.
Well I owned this one in the mid 2000s. It was Monte Carlo magic then and had an 1800 zetec on standard management. Sold it to a lad from Ingleby, Cleveland in about 2007. It needed some bodywork at that stage.
its amazing to see how many owners these type of things go through and how they evolve/change in each set of hands.i wonder how many hours and how much cash has been put into this old escort over the years?
Old thread, but I am also another ex-owner of EHA 483Y, I purchased it from Tony pastie down in Devon way, must of been about early 2005. It had been keyed down one side and acroos bonnet/boot. I had it re-sprayed in Monte Carlo Magic where needed, plus a bit of welding on the rear I think and fuse box area.
Took it to quite a few shows including the big Ford one in Holland with the "Rs1600i ontour" lot.
