I removed all the excessive free play and ended up with a brake pedal that felt like is does not have a LHD to RHD conversion fitted which a lot of RS1600i's suffered with - if I remember correctly I used cut down machine bolts.
They should still be there as was no need to remove em as my mods worked so well !

ive had a good poke around with hammer and screwdriver today
somone did some bodge work lol
filler foam covered with filler and underseal for rear o/s chassis leg to rear panel about 3 inch long (explains no tow eye)
o/s rear lower qtr rotten inside and out, outside skimmed with filler and stone chip to hide it
n/s inner rear lower qtr rot
both inner rear sills rotted
n/s outer rear sill rotten
small repairs need to chassis around spring cup area
so not the end of the world really

Nice too see it still alive, from what I remember I paid, for front wings rear arches and a couple of floor pans. I bought it off a young lad in Cleveland and it had been messed around with! Filler in the seat mounts and some stodgy welding here and there.

Well I owned this one in the mid 2000s. It was Monte Carlo magic then and had an 1800 zetec on standard management. Sold it to a lad from Ingleby, Cleveland in about 2007. It needed some bodywork at that stage.

its amazing to see how many owners these type of things go through and how they evolve/change in each set of hands.i wonder how many hours and how much cash has been put into this old escort over the years?

Old thread, but I am also another ex-owner of EHA 483Y, I purchased it from Tony pastie down in Devon way, must of been about early 2005. It had been keyed down one side and acroos bonnet/boot. I had it re-sprayed in Monte Carlo Magic where needed, plus a bit of welding on the rear I think and fuse box area.
Took it to quite a few shows including the big Ford one in Holland with the "Rs1600i ontour" lot.
sold it in 2006 as bought another MK2 RS2000.
Glad it's still around.
