Default Rocker cover gasket, whats best?

I am fed up to the fooking back teeth of these things leaking.......

Is the cometic one the best on the market?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/COMETIC-CO...item45fc672e8f

Like so, or is there better, i had one of those and it failed on the way to classic ford last year, which resulted in a quick reseal using some loctite sealant in the campsite saturday night, and then a screwed engine on the way home sunday when all the sealant went for a wonder round the oil ways.

The new engine is leaking now, so want to know whats best, i am having the cover machined tomorrow to make sure its 100% flat.

Used both cometic and standard, never had bother with either. I put a standard one on mine during my rebuild though, so i'd go with standard

I always use a very light smear of sealant! The only way the sealant would get into your engine and block an oil way is if you use far to much! There is no problem at all with using sealer

I think the cometic needs a bit of filing to fit perfect. I always remove front camshaft caps and seal under them first. Then put loads of silicone sealer on half moons as they don't always seal properly. Also could be breather issue so make sure this is not causing excessive pressure. Breath from both side of engine block and bin the flame trap. Cheers.

The Nbr ones from gaskets-direct are same material as cometic and fit perfect and are well cheaper... Never had a problem with mine.
