Default 2.0 head on 1.8 block [zetec]

Hello. I want to ask, is it possible to mount 2.0 zetec head on 1.8 zetec block? What advantages and disadvantages would be? Many people mount 1.8 head on 2.0 block to increase compresion ratio, so I thought that mounting 2.0l head on 1.8 block will reduce compression ratio and I will be able to mount a turbocharger without using decompression plate. I would be really happy for your help. My English isn't really good, so sorry

Have a nice day!

tbh the fist issue you will come across when turboing a zetec is the valve springs arent up to much boost..

You can usually find focus rs springs cheap thats what ive used in the past.

and as above think its just the cams that are different. although black top are solid lifters and silver top are hydraulic (iirc)

Apparently the 1.8 130PS head has the same size ports as a 2.0...

I had a mate measure them with a vernier gauge recently!

My zetec 1.8 has 115PS, so smaller ports, different cams and smaller combustion chamber, right?

no should be the same as 2.0, if your going turbo charged then keep your 1.8 cams in, good for 500bhp

1.8 had a 45cc combustion chamber, 2.0 has a 50cc

Email from a mate who is currently writing (which is about to go to press) the definitive 'Zetec' book, to be printed by Haynes.

"I have measured the ports on 2-litre Silver Top, Black Top and
ST170 plus re-measured the port sizes and the throats. Plus I know the
combustion chamber volume of these and the port volume of Black Top vs ST
170 - 26-cc in it - ST170 are bigger. Throat size is
different too - plus the valves are 0.5-mm bigger.... I measured the lot
myself by the way - bought a Burrette!

Port size on an 1800 is the same as 2-litre - but that's on a 130 1800
head - the 105/115 is different - different combustion chambers too, and piston -
has a bowl in it...

Interesting the Silver CC is 46 and the Black is 42 but the black has a 4-cc
dish in the piston - bringing it to 46-cc!"

I can get exact measurements at a later date if it helps.
