Hello all, I am a new owner of a 1.6 ford focus 2002. I have a query that I am hoping someone knowledgable will be able to help me with...

On start up of the car, the engine management light flickers for 30 secs - 1 min. It doesnt come on, just a feint flicker. It then stops flickering and doesnt come back on all journey. The car idles a little low, but other than this it runs really well with no noticeable problems. There are a few niggly things with the car such as the wiper relay/fuse needs replacing and the exhaust sounds a bit raspy so thinking a leak ( the last mot gave an advisory of some corrosion to part of the system) so could these be causing the flickering?

We have had a fault code reader plugged in and there are no codes coming back

It doesnt happen on every start up... If we turn the engine off for 10 mins and start it again (ie. not a cold start) it doesnt happen. It only seems to happen from a cold start

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

 

Did you try activating the EML with the scanner?
Or tried to create a fault that would set the EML on?
