New Aston Martin
Didn't they start doing little cars (rebadging stuff) to make some kind of emissions quota? I'm sure I read something that car manufactures need to be below a certain average for all their cars so companies like ford can offset their little cars against the big cars whereas Aston have no little cars so they're over the average?

Dont they come with scatter cushions for the back seats?
IIRC all car companies need to spend X amount on / release a certain number of low emission cars, or something along those lines. I remember reading something about Noble are going to struggle with these new car manufacture rules as they only making supercars?!

Yeah, I think this is to do with meeting an average emissions across the entire range quota. This somehow influences the tax band. Rolls Royce also 'make' their own version of the Mini. Amazingly there has been demand. A boss at Aston allegedly is irritated by the fact people are ordering a cygnet but not expecting to wait for one. So I heard.

Exactly right....why would you pay Ł30k for an iQ, whatever the badge is. The industry has been saying it'll bomb since it was first announced about 2 years ago.
I like it.
Think about it for a moment, if you live or work in the centre of a city you usually have to pick between luxury cars for comfort but a large fuel bill, or a small eco car that's nowhere near as comfy. With this you get best of both worlds, like a weird offspring of a Smart car and a proper merc
And anyway, they had to do it to bring overall emissions down.
Though that said, I wouldn't buy one.

If you have bought a new Aston at Ł150k and then spend Ł30k on one of them you need your head read - that's decent 330d money and guess what 99.9% of people who aren't on Prozac or Class A would choose....
Dunno why Aston don't make a caterham or westfield style lightweight track effort with a teeny engine with low emissions! Instead of 'pimping' a toyota IQ.
But then, rich folk who live in London are kinda strange tbh

Old thread, but someone on my street has just bought one of these (61-Reg). First time I've seen one in the flesh.
As said, you could understand why someone who has the full-sized version, but lives/works in the inner city during the week may want one, but not someone who lives in a small rural town and only has one car. Still, whatever floats your boat I guess...
