Oil Refinery goes bust
it'll get more expensive as the supply decreases and demand goes up, especially as we head towards the olympics, which is the cause of all our countries problems
Friend works for them as well and he just been told that the administrators are running the place at the moment and there is money being fed into the company to keep it running.
Don't think it "should" affect prices much, as 2 of the biggest fuel distributors in Essex (i'm working at one of them now) buy the bulk of their fuel from abroad anyway.
It would seem that Petroplus supply BP with a lot of road fuels tho.

not if there is oversupply in the market, which there is for unleaded in this country. we export loads of it, but import diesel as we don't have enough refineries for that as the shift in fuel used by car users swings more to diesel.
The same company shut the refinery down where I worked on Teesside in 2009 as it wasnt profitable enough for them, they bought refineries cheap expecting the world economy to improve before selling them on for quick $$$$s seems like their plan backfired............
But that just means whoever is supplying the other 80% of the market will find it easier to bump up their prices
someone will buy them out at the right price( not uk), Petroplus have spent so much money upgrading the site and thats why it all went to sh*t. been laying people off for some time now,in the middle of this year they have to have a major shut down by law to replace all the lagging in the pipes etc. the cost of this is well in the millions which they haven't got, if no one buys them out soon the site will be shut down for good and fuel prices will go up. i work in there for Veolia that has the waste contract for them and BP for many years so get all the info on whats going on.
