Default Mk1 Mondeo

Hi,

Not posted here for a while but thinking of buying a Mondeo for work, Any advise on best model would be great.

Doing a 50 mile round trip so need advice on which engine would be most economical i figured diesel but have heard these are not too reliable so which is the best petrol for mpg and the most reliable(mainly motorway driving). The mk1 appeals because i like to do my own work on them and they seem to be some bargains out there at moment.

Cheers

Finding a good MK2 isnt easy these days, never mind a good MK1. as for engines, ive had 1.6 and 2 litre petrols, neither were bad on petrol, id still go for the diesel if your looking for good MPG, dont know where you heard the diesels are unreliable, but its the opposite, they go on forever if there looked after, its the diesel MK3's that have expensive issue's.

Cheers just been looking at that ! Think its a goer then must have got mixed up with the diesels being bad engines luckily. Current car is a Diesel ZX which is great for work but it needs new front and rear brakes and is due tax and test so it might be cheaper to get something more comfy and modern looking
