Default Ultimate Diesel

am i right in thinking that posh diesel is not the same as posh petrol (ie higher ron, better for performance)

are there any known and proven benefits of the ultimate diesel?

Less carbon build up and less soot to block the DPF. Less smoke.

I am currently running it in mine to see if does make any diffence and the first tank would appear to have given me an extra 2-3 mpg.

AM not totally convinced though.

Surly the extra cost out weighs the extra MPG

I have a Range Rover DSE and its easy to tell if i am running normal diesel or ultimate diesel, the vehicle pulls slighty better and is a little smoother running on ultimate diesel, also i have chrome tailpipes and on normal diesel they get a litttle sooty but not with ultimate.

Biodiesel would be cleaner again! Vegtable oil burns grey instead of black!

Anyone tried a little two stroke in their diesel?
I used to do it on my old 406 and tried it today in my new 406, within 10-15mins you can tell straight away!
The car pulls harder and for longer in the revs, smokes less and you use less throttle to maintain a speed. Also lubricates all the injectors and pumps.
I put 250ml in my 70l tank.
Have a google, quite a few people do it!

Two stroke may work in the old fashioned diesels, but the newer common rail ones hate it. They run at such high pressures with very low tolerance levels its not worth the risk.

+1 it will do it more damage then good in the long run its like running a 2 stroke bike without it they go better but go bang in the end also what 2 stroke are you using the red stuff or the green
well either will dye your diesel enough to look like none road going stuff if you get dipped you could be looking at a recovery charge at the least

Apparently there is a difference http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezjknhwcQXU

My mate used to run fancy diesel in his golf gttdi and claimed it made a difference. His was remappped and a performance miltek exhaust system. went very well to say the least

Red, 100% Miniral based stuff.
Have a google and people reccomend it anywhere!
Few people on the 306/406 forums use it in HDi's too without an issue!
Infact just changed the diesel filter and the diesel is still yellow! So I doubt very much I'd have issues if my tank was ever dipped!
250ml of two stroke in 70000ml of diesel is hardly going to make a difference! Thats 0.35% Theres 5% Biodiesel in normal diesel! And my car aint supposed to use biodiesel either!

I've never noticed any meaningful difference in the posh stuff (when work's paying!) and Asda diesel. Certainly not enough to justify the extra cost.

Mines definitely got more knock on the cheap shit stuff. With the new adaptive ecus this will effect performance
It may bd more noticeable when the cats are tweaked and the cylinder pressures increase and we ask for more performance

Is it not just the same as posh petrol?

If your car is designed to run better it will run better with the posh stuff in it?

In the same way that if you ain't usain bolt it won't matter if you are wearing his branded trainers

If when you say posh petrol, you mean the decent stuff that doesn't make turbo cars det there brains out, then yes I guess it's the same idea.

What oil did you use?
I usually pick up a litre bottle of Castrol Actevo in the petrol station. I know that stuffs 100% mineral based.

The main difference with the two stroke is you lose abit of diesel clatter!

Low Sulfur .. lower Lubrication is the result of so Called Premium Diesel.

They have to Add Additives to counter act the reduced goodness .. Hence the Premium price

Special diesel is used here to reduce the Gelling affect of the weather .. And It's bull crap that so Called Modern diesel needs the premium stuff .. Av seen the latest ACERT's run on 80/20 - diesel / water mix in backwards countrys.

~250ml to my 70l tank.
Make sure it's 100% mineral based. Like I said above, I buy Castrol Actevo cause you can get it in all petrol stations and I know it's miniral based.

i remember when the ultra low sulphur deiseasl came onto the market

our buses all of a sudden decided that they wern't going to go as fast as they had been due to this new wonder fuel, and when i say it was noticable, it really was noticable

example, our buses were quite happy to get up to about 50 mph on the 50 mph roads we used to drive them on and they'd get there fairly sharpish too, but with the ulsd we were winding them up for the best part of a mile before they were getting up to speed, and then we'd have to slow down again because it was the end of the straight

this was some point in the late 90's

ive run two stroke for years in all my diesels, my 06 transit recovery is awesome on it, quieter in mornings less smoke etc.

it does clean the injectors and lubricate the pump etc

Just done a quick google on 2 stroke fuel in diesel and as said in this thread general consensus is smoother/quieter running, better throttle response and better from cold, less smoke, generally makes everything a bit sharper and smoother. Nothing to the contrary that I can find.
