Default standard focus st owners

right Sarah has got it into her head that she now wants a focus st 2.5 one as her everyday car.

what we wanna know is what are they actually like on fuel around town and on a run??
she will be coming from a vectra sri diesel lol. we know they not gonna be anywhere like the derv but with diesel being 11p a litre more in some places would it even its self out.

must be based on a standard st

Hi, i have had my ST3 for 16 months now, great cars and drive well.

MPG - I do allot of motorway miles 25k per year and TBH i think its crap! i dont run the engine flat but drive at 80mph average i would say, Mine shows 26.4 since birth as only re set the computer the day i bought it.

My mate has the montune and it shows he is getting 27 MPG which i have heard others say.

Brilliant everyday cars!

2 and a half years and love it as much as the day I got it.

I reset my trip every tank and get anywhere from 19mpg to a tank to 28 depending on town/motorway etc. 19mpg is from some heavy foot action like.

Chill at 60-65 on a long run and you will see above 30mpg. 80 or so and you will get about 27-28 ish irrc.

You will love it!

We replaced the missus ST200 with a 2010 ST3 in September. Since then she has been getting circa 22 around town and around 33 when I have used for work (48 miles each way round the M25).

They are certainly not the best for fuel but are worth it for the smile factor. They are like little go carts compared with my remapped 535d.

im on the St forums, and they all seem to be selling up because of fuel costs, most people seem to be getting 15-20mpg round town, shocking for what you actually get imo

Once I can get the Mrs driving she will be getting a derv so any longer journeys I will be using that.

I quit smoking partly due to the cost of fuel.

If you can accept the fuel costs they are worth the money!

its quite easy if you live in a busy area, i regularly see sub 20mpg on my FRS and they are better on fuel than the ST.

the 2 miles journey to my folks can take 10 mins in a car, stop starting and thats what kills the economy round town

In normal guise I got about 26mpg and now running mod X with RS injectors and over 300bhp I get around 30mpg,now mostly I drive like a sissy apart from the occasional blast,I only go 12 miles a day to work and that's at 2 in the morning doing 40-50mph so maybe why mines isn't to bad,u nail it and it drinks fuel other than that I think they're ok if ur sensible

They are great cars, had mine from a year old for 3 years and was sad to see it go but the cost of fuel finally ment it had to.

Average was 27mpg, with a high of 33mpg on steady 75mph trips on the motorway. (Remapped with dreamscience)

Really miss the old girl, until I fill up or see 50mpg on my 320d display.

My good friend has just had a dream science remap (performance plus) and he reckons it is marginallly better on fuel. He drives quite tamely anyway though.

both of mine never moved off of the 19 mpg mark around town
anybody who tells you much more is kidding themselves
there running the old volvo engine that was never fuel efficient in the first place
if you use them in anger or on a track they will be down to 7-9 mpg on the instant mpg on the fuel computer

My 220 bhp mk2 Octavia vrs does 33mpg cruising at 90mph and averages 35 over the time I owned it so far. Cruising at 75 will see nearly 40mpg

This is why I bought it instead of the ST I'd set my heart on, I'm glad I did too as its a bloody brilliant car and pretty quick for whT it is

If you or your missus likes the car enough, just get one, they are very nice. Yes there will always be more ecconomical cars, SO what, don't think too many on this site are that fussed, or you'd not be on this site

Take one for a test drive you won't be dissapointed. I absolutley love mine. I kicked the arse out of a Mazda mps on Sunday. Mines still standard. Can't wait to go to revo for my remap.

They are brilliant cars and as long as you can tame your right foot there not too bad.

If you sign up to focus stoc there is a poll on mpg there.

If you are asking about the fuel consumption of the car then it obviously isnt the one for you. Who in their right mind buys a sports car and then worries about the fuel costs!!!!

We got Clare's knowing that they weren't that good on fuel but they are worth every penny as they are a great little package all round.

I think people must be driving with a caravan on the back or with the hand brake on.
