Default 4x4 Cosworth Restoration - advise please..

After owning my Cossie for a number of years, 2 of which have been spent in my garage, this weekend (26/02/05) sees the start of its restoration.

Seeing other posts here has got me worried and I'm not looking forward to checking the rear chassis rails!!!

I have a few questions if you guys can help please?

- whats the best method for cleaning the underside?

I've heard WD40 is good, but i intend to paint the underside so is this still ok?

- Hard to get parts.

What parts should I keep that I cant get anymore, has anyone had difficulties getting certain parts?

and finally...

Its a late 1992 4x4 with only 50k on it, has anyone had any problems with the chassis rails on these?

Thanks
Andy

I've Got Completely rotten Chassis rails, you can't buy them anymore so i'm having some new ones fabricated then it will have to be put on a Jig and have them fitted. The only other thing i've been told i couldn't buy new anymore was the Actual Anti Roll Bar. Everything else i've replaced on the rear beam.

I think sandblasting would be the ultimate way of cleaning the underside of the car, speak to Lamb chops as hes been using WD40 to clean the underside of his.

Wouldn't worry about whether they're rotten or not just get underneath and find out for sure it's not the end of the world!

Default ..

I have the equipment to sand blast it so its probably the best approach, once its all stripped.

Sorry to hear about your chassis rails, and yeah its not the end of the world I'd just be a happy man if there solid!
