Circled item is fuel cut solenoid stops diesel going into pump when ignition is turned off and vice versa.

no idea what the engine is from tho.

Thankyou, the engine is currently in a narrowboat which is having some work done, but trying to find out what the engine is so we can get parts for it, but thanks for identifying what that part was, much appreciated

Engine is a Ford 1.6 Diesel as found in the early MK3 Escorts and Fiesta's.

Quite common to find them in boats due the size and reliability of them.

Lots of places used to do marinisation kits for them.

Interesting as Ford never did a turbo for the 1.6D.

We turboed a 'B' Reg escort estate with 160k on it and then stuffed nitrous on it as well in 97 for the sheer hell of it. Went well but it kept blowing the boost pipes!

Its some old hippies, looks like it has been wired by stevie wonder, just doing a re-wire and service on it. Suprised it still runs ! Thanks

Fuck me fella, Stevie did a lot of work on stuff i had to rectify, but its all good cos his mate Ray Charles did the paintwork
