Any performance tests done on the new airtec coolers yet ?
The best core made for sensible money is the Garrett bar and plate and this is the one Spec R use,
As for testing most tests arent done thoroughly enough IMO, A single sweep power run on a RR tells you very little,
These have to be backed up by hard testing on a test track.

Not true the only intercooler I have seen Jenspeed make was a bottom feed and I have tested that over 7 years ago,
It was my idea of the top feed so I would like to see proof of one of there top feed and top exit intercolers.

Just googled it, it does look a good core compared to the rest!
I agree with the quick dyno sweep, imo they are a waste of time even for power runs...they need to be held so air temps rise and give a true reading and for info like AFR/Inlet temp/Detonation (if at all).
Subaru intercoolers have a denso core which is also pretty damn good, no idea if it can be bought or what though...A friend has had 8 subaru IC's welded together to form one err huge IC, can't wait to see how it performs but it should be good!
you'd measure inlet and outlet temps, hold it flat on as much boost as you can/are going to run (id imagine) and see how much it actually lowers temp flat out, obviously you're trying to get as close to ambient temp as possible, the closer it is the better.
surely mark saying theres a complete diffrence between spec r and jenspeed coolers is a tad petty if the only diffrence is that they fed theres from the bottom and not the top like yours

thats like me saying " ohh yeah i totally redesigned a rs 500 cooler by turning it upside down when fitting it into the car pmsl !!!
but we both agree jenspeed were there first in using bar and plate coolers that wernt " fed " air in the commom 500 style cooler application ??
beef ....

The Jenspeed on runs a sim size core than a 500 the spec r one is smaller and is feed completly diff than any of the others,
The only way you could same they are the same is they all cool air
.Mark
so if its lowers the temp by a further 1 degree its the better cooler right?
You said they were made the same which is clearly wrong, Now you are saying they have the same cores make up your mind, They are not copied and look at the pro alloy/pace/fordge all run the same type core so have they copied each other,

ok mark they all cool air lol
im standing by my comment that the spec r one is very very similar to the jenspeed design ,
i hope i can find the pic of a blue escos running a top fed ent / ex that was at gatebil in 05 ...
if you want to start going into ,specific sizes and core suppliers to prove a difference then crack on mate ,
but ultamately the " design " is what im referring to more than exact size and core specs ,
if your looking ate more ways to skin a cat to prove im wrong then go for it ,

You need to see it in the car as thats a dyno cooler and wont be used in the car like that.
Mark
i'm not an expert and you obviously know more than me about it, but does that not defeat the object of dynoing/setting up the engine if it is going to use a different cooler when in the car?
thanks
thanks
The problem you can have is cooling the intercooler you use in the car and then damaging the fins in the cell with the fan,
Water cooling it makes it easy to hold the temp stable and most cells just have one cooler for this,
Tech yes its better to have the one that runs in the car.

Jesus christ, not to sound rude, but if people used their brains on here it would be as dangerous place. The reason Mark, Jenspeed and thousands of other people use top/bottom feed end tanks is in an attempt to maintain gas speed/flow. Shit they'd use end feed, end tanks if they could get the outlet in the centre whilst maintaining a decent end tank shape and a low (enough) volume.
Also, all these people seem to be going on about the Airtec cooler. Have they seen spy pictures? Post them up for all to see.
