Default Mondeo Diesel throwing out white smoke on acceloration

Hi all,

I have just got myself a Mondeo Titanium X on a 56 plate with 65k on the clock.

When I put the car under load it appears to throw out white smoke and I'm a little concerned as I have not seen any other diesels do this.

The car has been back to the garage I bought it from and they have advised me that this particular model does this and there's nothing to worry about and they have consulted a diesel specialists to confirm this.

I feel that I am getting fobbed off with this as other Mondeo's I have seen don't do this.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers
Dave

If your worried call the aa/ rac as they do independent vehicle inspections, and will be able to tell you what's what. Plooms of smoke is never a good sign, but a little white smoke when cold is expected.

Yes it's thick white smoke and it does it regardless of whether the car is hot or cold.

I check the levels once a week and nothing's gone down since I got it. The car appears to perform ok and the MPG on average is 48MPG.

Could be the egr valve, They are common to mess up on the mondeo.

Not sure if its the same EGR valve as the ST. Is it a 2.2?

Is it the euro 3 or euro 4 engine?

I check the levels one a week and they are spot on all the time. No water loss or contaminants in the oil.

I'm limited to what I know when it comes to diesel but previous diesels I've had don't appear to do this.

Is there a way to test the EGR valve? It's been on the emissions tester and everything checks out.

I think on the euro 3 engine you can just blank them off.
