Hello to all. ive just removed my engine loom off my 2wd sapph and it looking abit tatty. is there any one that can recondition the loom as in having braided cover over it, making it alot neater or can it be done by myself with a kit.

is it just me that thinks 400 quid for a loom is extortionate?

 

I think all the bits come to around £175-£200

You could try what I do, an that is to get the correct ford connectors,bullets an bayonets etc and the right crimping tool have a look on the net, the main prob is the wire and getting the right main coulor an trace ,so what I did was go to breakers an strip out more modern looms ,and make a good copy of the original it dos take time but it wont cost £400!!!

 

my loom is in good nick so i think im just going to try and make it look tidy. does anyone know how to get the pins out the plugs and sockets i dont really want to snop the socket off.

mostly I have used small split pins or a thick needle glued into a chopstick then insert into the reccess above the blade or pin to press the tab down have a good look at the connectors your see what Im getting at !

 

Seeing the quality of the proper built looms I think £400 is cheap ! I certainly wouldn't want to put one together for any less, its time consuming.

I'm not denying if you have a good understanding of electrics you couldn't DIY it but I definitely don't think £400 is steep for one.

 

£400 is bloody cheap. I paid £750 for mine (trade) mind you I had a few extras on mine.

 

Who's doin them for £400?
