Default Battery or Alternator

Hi Chaps

The battery light has just come on in my car.

Is there a way of finding out if its a crap battery or the alternator on its way out.

Got to drive to Birmingham on Sunday so want to get it sorted before then.

thanks

It can be a battery, I had it on my brothers clip the battery had shorted out inside or something like that and caused the battery light to come on!

If that was the case the car wouldn't start, I've never seen a batterylight come on because of a batteryproblem. And it's my daily job! I repair alternators and starters for a living.
