Done a 300 mile round yesterday, now I never gunned it and never went over 75mph. Had 3 other adults in the car as well as me.

So steady driving all in all, and it only returned 44.9mpg. Now i am sure they are supposed to be better on fuel.

Any ideas what would cause bad fuel consumption, the car had a full service 3500 miles ago.

 

ive got a 2005 focus 1.6tdci, has one of those tuning boxes on it, returns between 53-55mpg, massively under powered engine for the car tho, i find you have to rev the hell out of it with anymore than 2 people in it to get it going, might be worth checking for any split intercooler hoses, mine had popped of the intercooler when i first had it

 

Doesnt sound too bad mate in honesty

4 adults averaging what 13-16 stone maybe give or take in a 1.6 tdci focus

sounds ok to me as the car will be working hard on that engine
