Default escort rs turbo ecu's?

Just brought my self a g reg series 2, now iv been told its got the wrong ecu on it. i was told it should have and ecu with hearts and diamonds on it, mine has the coloured squares on it. i was told that that ecu is from a series 1 is this right and will it make a difference?

blue red blue is a common s1 ecu, it wont matter either way what you have, i found a box with 15 rs ecu's in the yesterday,

some peopl3 say a series 1 is best ecu as it allowed 1psi more and had no knock sensor, i may be wrong but i think you have to disconnect the knock also otherwise it was im permenent knock/safe mode

i could be talking crap its been a very very long time sice i used kejetronic stuff

I was also told the S1 ecu was better for above reasons. they also have a higher rev limit i believe. An S2 will run on any Ecu, but an S1 will only run on an S1 ecu.

How's it goin Rob? From the factory it should have a hearts and diamonds ecu. They will run slightly more boost than the earlier coloured ecus. I think most are interchangeable tbh, just check your base idle and ignition timing.

Later ECU's need a knock sensor, or will run like a bag of shit. S1 or V early S2 is the best as no knock sensor, the knock sensor circuit very often removed timing for fun.

I dont really know enough about it to be honest, just what i was told when i had mine set up. my engine is a late MFI (has CPS hole in block) and that runs on an S1 ECU with knock sensor disconnected.

Which is for series 2s with a knock sensor (late 89s and early 90s) from what ive found out on here. but my knock sensor is not pluged in. could this be the problem? Thanks Rob.
