Hi All,
Guy at work has a 2.0 P reg Vectra which has just snapped the cambelt.
Question is, do you escape the old ''pistons kissing the valves'' scenario on these, as I'm pretty sure on some of the older GM heads you did if you were lucky.
Cheers

No vauxhall 16v engine is valve safe.
The small block 8v ones are.
The big block 8v ones arent, but just snap the sacrificial rockers so are an easy fix.
I assume his is a 16v ecotec engine for that model and year, so will be a world of pain no doubt.
Generally the pistons are ok though, and a new head will sort it (or new valves and guides in the old head, but secondhand complete head is very cheap)

It will have damaged valves. Depends how he was reving as to how much damage has been done.
To be brutal with the money these change hands for it's stupid to do anything other than weigh it in and simply buy another one.
