Default what estate car

looking for a bit of advice. ive got £3000 to buy an estate car, ive looked at a mondeo and a focus both 2.0 tdci. what are the pros and cons on both cars and which one is the better car to get

the number of tdci fords that ive seen on ebay due to knackered fuel pump's or mechanic's/owner's who have fooked up the head cross threading the injectors, i wouldn't touch one with a barge pole

Out of your two choices i'd go for the focus every day! better engine, better economy, better power delivery, better handling, possibly cheaper to tax?

However, depends what you need it for. X-type estates are looking a right bargin, if you can stomach the v6 with auto box. 1.9 tdi a4 quattro estate would be a good choice, especially this time of year with the 4wd.

Octavias are always good but be wary of ex police & ex taxi's.

Mondeo tdci nicer to drive and better value than focus, huge load area with seats down, but also worth considering;

thanks for your help. would i be better of going for a petrol mondeo or focus instead. the car is for the wife and she likes both cars.
