Unhappy Not a ford question but I know some lads on here have VW's

Just took the rocker cover off off my 2000 Bora(1.9 PD engine) to get to the bottom of a really bad knocking noise(I thought the cam was worn) only to find that one of the rocker shaft bolts is loose.Anyone heard of this before?

The engine was reuilt at 76000 miles as some numpty timed it up incorrectly, however the car has now done 12000 miles so cannot see that being the issue

No, but hopefully tightening it will resolve the issue - bet you're pleased it's not the dreaded case of chocolate cam!

It's been over 2 years since I changed a PD cam but I'm sure that is a stretch bolt..

Not quite the same as yours but you may find this interesting:

Good luck with it anyways, let us know how it works out

Examined further and the rocker shaft has snapped in two.(I know there in two halves) WhatI mean is one of the halves has broken into two. Will get a pic as soon as the camera is charged.Broken a bolt at one end and the other end was loose. Now the search goes on for the bolt head

Sorry to hear that dude. Might be worth taking the cam out while you are there to ensure all the shells and lifters are ok. They should be black hardened lifters if they were replaced with OE parts when the rebuild was done. Don't forget to mark the position of the injector nuts.

Good luck
