Default some questions for live mappers

hi,i have some possibly overlooked non technical questions for tuners who specifically map engine man. without using a rolling road.

How do you overcome the following-

driving cars with fixed bucket seats,in particular too small or too far from the pedals for the mapper?
non road legal race/track cars?
cars which loose traction at the slightest hint of throttle,or cant hold w.o.t. with spinning the wheels?

At the cost of being shot down in flames, surely live mapping on a public road is illegal, as it constitute's use of the road as a test track?

Plus I think more then 1 live mapper has died doing this, as well as members of the public?

I often wonder how tuners haven't been caught doing silly speeds while out mapping cars! Lol

So how do you get to map for the upper ends of the tables with the engine under load?

By applying your foot to the brake pedal at the same time

Foot on brake and throttle...Thus putting the engine speed under load at less road speed.

mine was done by flooring it in 5th at normal speeds so the turbo had to spin up from nothing (putting it under load) then holding it flat out till full boost/the required speed/revs were reached and the mapper had all the info / data he was satisfied with

this reminds me of a chavved up astra van i saw in town tonight. he turned off into a car park in front of me and i thought he had some kind of gay neons or leds or something lighting up his brake discs - then i smelt it and he must've either had a fault or been having to retard the massive power as the disc was glowing red hot

I had to drive my car whilst Mark Shead mapped it, before taking it round to the rolling road. Was interesting

On the few cars i have mapped so far i tent to get them to drive around normaly en get most of the light throttle loads sites done. Then i get them to go into 3ed at low revs and floor it untill the turbo starts spooling then ajust it to get the switch over as smoth as i can. As for the flat out stuff i just get them to start low in the rev range and hold it at WOT till they hit the limiter or run out of room lol.

Have you ask Karl at NMS if he'd be prepared to map it?
