Default Transit 5sp t0 6sp conversion.....

As in title can anyone shed any light on this?

I've got an 07 transit sportvan, great for work for me apart from its tyre eating

had it from new and only done low miles,it came with a 5spd box but want more economy without having to chop it in (all paid for now and as i say its low mileage)

probably going to get it remapped as am told economy improves with this along with power

what else would i require regards mounts if different, will speedo remain the same & does gearbox have software/ecu to sort out ??????

If it's eating tyres, changing to a 6 speed won't give YOU any better economy.

I've done 37750 so far on my (company) 10plate Transit 2.2 6 speed.
The original Front tyres look like they will make it to 40k.

How many miles do you get to your fronts?

shafts should be the same, gearbox/flywheel n clutch setup, linkage and turret will need changing for 6sp.

i garuantee a remap will solve your economy issues

Think it eats tyres cos of the size of them and the profile

Most of my driving is round town,no real long journeys

If 6spd box won't help what's the point of it if not for economy

There's a bloke near me that's a bit of a boffin with ecus

There's no ecu for the gearbox. IF your doing mainly town driving your not going to use 6th gear so why have it? THe speedo picks up off the abs, nothing to do with the gearbox. YOu can't carry much weight if you bought a sportvan.
