i would have had that! doh! £480 for a braided engine loom isnt a bad price considering a used rs500 braided loom went on ebay recently for £410, i was outbid £10 on it never expected it to go that high, then googled the pectel braided loom to find they are £1600 new!
but if anyone has one of these up for grabs please let me know as im on the lookout for a braided one

for that amount you can sell your existing ecu and put what you would have spent on that loom for a new ECU with a new loom - the ECU will have better functions and be more modern with options like closed-loop, anti-lag, launch control, etc.
Hi Ran,
Thanks for your reply.. but I have already bought the loom for 375 and not 480, so you’re reply is bit like a broken pencil. ‘ pointless’.. lol
I don’t need an aftermarket ECU and loom, very happy to stick with the P8 ECU I already have, thus allowing me to run 55lb Siemens with closed loop, Air-Air Inj for Boost Control, (OE) Dizzyless configuration without having to pay for an aftermarket ECU.
this loom already comes with dizzyless coilpack and twin ign amp wiring, which would have been another 50 via ebay.
The only reason I wanted this loom is because the car is 20 years old now and I’d prefer to have a new engine loom is good condition rather than have something that will start to struggle with age related wiring gremlins. I’m also changing the fuel pump and fan loom.
At the level of tuning for my car I don’t need anything other than the P8 which ticks all the boxes I want it for.
thanks,
Manoj

Ran you normally talk sense from what i have seen mate.
But what similar spec ECU and ready built loom to this standard can you buy for that money.
I just think spending nearly 400 quid on a loom is madness
i just paid 250 for my fully built and terminated loom from Omex.
I did have an L8 and 4x4 loom which i sold and along with the sale of a SECS monitor - that fully covered the expense of my Omex 600 ECU.
Obviously, with my project as everything needed doing inc mapping it made sense to go for the spec i initially wanted as adding features to an L8 over time will become expensive.
Now, if you dont want to get it mapped or add any new features then i can see the point of sticking with the L8.
I just cannot fathom that adding closed loop functionality to an L8 costs £400, when you can sell that ECU for £250 and then pickup a Omex 600 for £560. As you know the Omex is a faster responding ECU, with more functions built in as standard.
You also can pick up the new self learning and mapping style ECUs now for similar sort of money which can save you hours and money on a rolling road - obviously its best to get it all checked out by a pro but the time spent would be minimal in comparison.

i dont know much about Omex ECU's to be honest. but it sounds like a good option for you and lots of folk use them.
MY ECU is P8 and i'm very happy to stick with that and the OE coil pack configuration which is tried and tested on many high powered cosworths. The loom i've received today is stunning.. well worth the money imho.
just one thing.
£850.. are you sure that ECU & loom was cost effective.. lol

Manoj, that ecu and loom is secondhand so would be cheaper than brand new items. Also the loom is for a zetec so would need modding which will cost money.
If I had seen that for sale before I bought mine I would have had that lol.
Good luck with yours and get some pics up
