i am just watching wheeler dealers, the one where they do the american pickup. they paid £593 for a twin carb kit. (wait for it) it gave a reasonable 10bhp

was just saying. A steel crossflow with a nice head, carbs, is going to cost you around 3k for around 160bhp. yet a 1.6 turbo with 1200 quid in it, cooler, turbo and some other bits will comfortably give you 200.

People who know nothing would just see a single figure. What if it gives better cold starting, better running, more power and torque everywhere, and better fuel economy ?
And if it was replacing faulty parts that were not available ?
A bit like some people fitting air filters and stainless exhausts to totally standard cars for that same 10bhp or so for even higher cost.
