Default what is a erst s1 shell worth these days? i know for one and want it

as above, theres a guy by me who has one and i want it, its just a shell with doors its been in the weather for years and years with no windows uncovered

he said its got a new floor in it which looks right apart from the pond inside it lol and it is still solid i had a look myself, the bad parts that iv found is it needs a new scuttle panel, the petrol filler hole has rusted completly its just hanging in the back quarter and there rear wheel arches inside behind the panel has holes in both sides, theres a few rusty spots outside but nothing major,

what is this shell worth? he said he will let it go for the right price but i dont know what i should offer him, any ideas? i want a new project and this is the car i want

any advise would be great

If you're in the market for an S1 project, I've got a lovely one for sale. Whats your budget?

You could end up throwing money at an old shell!

I have a shell that was resto'd a few years ago with lots of new panels. I'd like 1k for the rolling shell. It was never rebuilt since it got new panels. It needs paint also.

I wouldnt want to pay much for the shell you describe.

Sounds like my car would suit you to a tee. Needs brakes and an efi engine. has full interior, suspension, fresh paint, 100 miles since restoration. trouble is its certainly not next to nothing.

On a non-saleperson note. My (lenghty and expensive...) experience of S1s is to buy on bodywork condition, followed by paint condition. The oily bits are cheap, readily available and easy to DIY sort. scuttles, wings, chassis, paint etc is an expensive mindfield. And I took 18 months just to get the panels together for my front end

Diesel - buy Chop's shell mate. No point starting with a crappy base when you can get a solid shell and build on that.

Cheers mate. 400 to start with a shell that's full of water is insane imo

S1 shells are money pits if you buy the wrong one

Chops shell will save you literally thousands. You'd be mad to buy a basket case for 350-400 vs one already done for a grand. Fucking mental

Dont buy a naff shell, get a solid one, may cost a bit more in the first place but in the long run will save you a bunce.

Then buy a rotten dogger to break up for the parts, cheaper than buying bit by bit.
