One for the fiat peeps here!

I've got a fiat barchetta sitting in the garden with a blown headgasket. It was left to me when my dad died and has some sentimental value but i want a trackday car... so as i love a turbocharged motor, my question is - would a punto GT engine go straight in with little hassle? i know the car is based on a Mk1 Punto, and also know that a fiat coupe 16v Turbo motor will fit, but are quite hard to find. I want to do as much as possible on the drive and am quite handy with the spanners, so want to get the old girl going again and reckon it would be quite reasonable to tune that engine over replacing with another 1.8 16v

Anyone got some knowledge on this?

 

punto gt would fit a doddle as like you say its based on a punto

 

so in theory the engine mounts and wiring should be pretty straight forward? do they have coded keys etc?
