is this a bad idea to be thinking ?
im starting to collect parts to finish off my impreza, during this time i have noticed ALOT of 3 door impreza shells for sale for around a grand
im REALLY tempted to buy a shell and reshell my 4 door into a type R sti as its practically apart at the moment
now is that a bad idea or does it make sence ( sort of)
price of imprezas are SOO low at the min people cant sell them so they are breaking them up
i would love a 3 door shell but then my shell is fine with no problems what so ever,,,, so bad idea or not ?

im sure they are the same wheel base as a normal impreza as they are very well speced for handling due to the geometry of the impreza's
just gotta see what the missus says about my mad idea as she thinks cars area waste of money anyway pmsl

I think you should just carry on as you are, the door snobbery you get with cars is stupid. It happend with mk1 and 2 escorts, and it seems to happen with other cars aswell, honestly though, who cares on the number of doors?
its more to do with value and appeal long term too tbh, impreza's aint worth a wank now, my one could do wth a respray in areas and i have a relative good spec apart from the basic engine, i could reshell into a 3 door shell and increase the value AND due to less being made and lots being broken they will increase invalue ( long term though but it aint going anywhere)
also the 3 doors seem to be better looked after aswell so generally more tidy shells too

One of the easiest cars to strip down by far the good old imprezas,I'd love a 2/3door one,my Cossie would be long gone, loved the impreza wagon I had which never ever let me down,it even stood for years and fired up straight back into daily use with no issues at all, superb motors, yet getting a Chav rep now sadly.
Good idea that though, buy a 2dr and a 4dr and do the business,if the 2dr shells only Ł1000 and you can pick a 4dr/wagon up for Ł2000 that's a cheap car your getting.
I know the guy hasn't sold anything off his blue one that we broke but there wasn't too many nice bits on it,although mechanically it was fine,as they tend to be.

if you can make money in the long run then its a no brainer
and if you like a 3dr one then thats an added bonus
like you say yours is apart anyway so nothing to loose
what could you get for your shell

That one pictured above is just pornographic. The WRC from that era was just a stunning looking thing, and so was the 22B.
I'd do it if I were you, I really like the 2dr ones, bit different to the norm, as they weren't generally sold here about from the couple of specials.
Someone at my uni had one, think it was an RA or something, with roof vents and stuff, looked ace!

Yes do it, you'd be a fool ploughing money into saving a 4dr Impreza shell when it's already pretty much stripped, specially when the 2dr versions are available for such little cash these days.
However, go for a standard look, no unpainted carbon bonnets with huge vents mate...
Cheers,

the reason i got the carbon bonnet was i from this

to this

and a replacement alloy bonnet i couldnt fit without damage and even then they wanted 250 quid for it, this one was 650 and i dont have to paint it you see
i quite like it btw apart from the scoop but they dont make a standard scoop carbon bonnet anymore either
i do prefer the 2drs much more but even they aint selling for a great deal when running so cant really see it being that worthwhile money wise.
my mate just got a minter of a 2dr in white thats been really looked after and was only 3400.
