bought rs2000 4x4 yesterday...today the engine blows up!!!
bought a rs2000 4x4 yesterday drove nearly 300 miles back from manchester....absolutely faultless i was chuffed to bits, been out to footy this morning left my sisters house, pulled out of a junction only in first wasnt flooring it...and then bang followed by quite a heavy rattle aswell as the oil light come on straight away!!
first thing i thought was timing chain so quickly ripped the camshaft cover off and spun the key a cpl of turns the chain was turning fine but could hear the rattle still there coming from the bottom end...im thinking maybe shot a conrod??? but not too sure as nothing has come through the block and no leak anywhere??
ANY IDEAS OR HELP ANYONE
cheers

a 2.3 conversion is not a straight forward swap as there is piston skimming etc needed and more ,more detailed info on the above posted site ,by as a rule the I4 is a pretty bulletproof engine
Not entirely, no. The tweaks needed are nothing major though. 2300 is best on throttle bodies too IMO. One of the best screaming NA Ford set-ups IMO with a decent amount of torque too.
