Ok, thinking about mk1 Focus RS engine transplant into my mk6 Escort gti with a 6-speed ST170 gearbox, not worried too much about tackling issues like fabricating mounts etc but can people point out any glaring issues e.g will I have linkage issues to the gearbox and what I could do to get around it. I know I will need to look at drive shafts, but I can have some made with focus bits at one end and escort bits at the other.

would be mad in e escort. what power you going for? best thing to do is find someone whos dont the conversion already why you using a st170 gearbox?????

 

seen it done in a mk5 xr3i but they kept the mtx-75 rs2k g/box, goes like stick apparently

 

would be alot easier keeping the MTX box and rs2k shafts, would be a cool and fast machine

 

Looking for about 310bhp, so not too much, but I want the novelty of having the six speed especially for the motorway journeys back home etc, plus not sure I have seen it done anywhere. Ideally want a high and low boost map setup with a switch to flick between the two.

 

i was looking into a six speeder too at one point, but apparently used in turbo form you are through the gears in no time,

very short ratio'd in turbo

but N/A's are long ratio'd

go for the Mtx, will be a lot cheaper in your car,
