Default Selling a car for "export"?

I always hear about this but I'm not really sure how it all works.

I have a transit van, perfect mechanically but external body on it's way out.

It's still taxed and moted for sometime and I value it around £500 but I've noticed a few of these "vans ideal for export,£1500" which I think go off to Africa etc,but it says they must be running which mine is perfectly.

Not sure if anyone on here has done this,or knows how to go about doing it,I'd happily drive it to any port etc but I don't know whether it's just a con or can you ACTUALLY get £1500 for an old transit?

Seems a bit far fetched to me but if anyone has any experiences of this I'd be grateful to hear from them.
