Default RS 2000 fan belt

Hello all i am new to this site and was wondering if any one could give me some advice. I got a mk6 rs 2000 and having jip trying to change the fan belt i have tried two after market belts and no joy and now got a ford belt and still no joy. Do you have to take a pulley off to get the new one on thanks.

Job done i took the power steering pump pulley off put the belt on and then over the pump pulley then with a little pull the pulley went back on thank god for that. For such a simple job what a load of head work but easy that way.
