Default Escort mk4 1.6 cvh exhaust issues!!!

right ive got a mk4 1989 escort mk4, and for some reason where the down pipe joins the middle section the middle section collar keeps on snapping which then causes the middle section to drop to the floor and then causes me to cry, i have been through 3 sections in about 8-10 months ive replaced one gear box mount is there a fix for this? different exhaust with a different way of joining perhaps

Thanks in advance

i dont know wether it will help but have you try a flexy pipe in the exhaust.

thats what i need! is there a way i can get a down pipe with flexi pipe? would it be best to ask my local motor factor to see what they say, at the moment theres a big exhaust clamp holding it up with loads of weld but its started blowing again its damn annoying!

i think i might have 1 in my garage off my old turbo. but its for a 2.5" pipe and fits straight on to the downpipe.

Have you checked your gearbox mounts?

As above, replace BOTH gearbox mounts with new at the same time, replacing just one is pointless as the engine will still rock and wear the new one out in no time, make sure you put the front on the front, and the rear on the rear, and make sure all your exhaust hangers (rubbers) are correct and in good condition.
