Default turbo'ing a mondeo for a college project?

ive just started my level 3 engineering course at college, and ive been thinking about what to do for my 6 month project next year

i was going to do a engine of some sort, and ive just had an idea about doing a turbo conversion or high tuned n/a in an older shape mondeo for a laugh

id have to buy the complete car which shouldnt be too expensive as itd be an old shape mondeo, engine condition doesnt really matter as itd be rebuilt anyway, and if the bodywork is ropey and has a couple of battlescars... then thats just extra sleeper points as that will be what i want it to be

tbh i think it'll be a good idea as an engineering exercise and just because itll be funny

a turbo would be good for balls out power, but keeping it n/a would suprise more people as it wouldnt sound any different to a normal one, but a s/c would be really different

so whatdya think? good idea?

Get one of an old knackered Merc, be a bit cheaper I would of thought.

My old Citrine yellow one was last seen rather flat in the back of a skip

Unless there's a reason for being dead set on a Mondeo, I'd suggest a mk6 escort with the 115ps Zetec-E. It's the best basis for a cheap Zetec Turbo by robbing the Ford parts bin (and a couple of bits from Nissan's too). Also, done subtly, but well, a 3dr would look like the Series 3 RST that they never built.

Probably more plentiful than early Mondeos too.

Talk to Neil from FF, he's into his pikey ZT's.

I've recently thought about a turbo'd Mondingo, serious sleeper points!
Or, my mate has an old Galaxy with a 2.0 Zetec, I've convinced him to pikey turbo that, I'll let you know how it goes

6cyl means i'll have to buy extra valves, 2 extra pistons etc 2 more of everything. Ive gotta pay for this out of my own money so doing a v6 turbo and moving it to the back would be way more than i can afford tbh :/ i wanted to do a v8 but realised how much itll cost so a 4 banger is the only way imo

if he does turbo it then let us know how much it costs etc
id want it to be strong so i could abuse the shit out of it without worrying when itll blow up id sacrifice boost for reliability and strength.

let us know how it goes and upload a video of it

Many a car has been found on eBay for sod all, local free ads have very cheap motors going as people can't be arsed.
My last Mondeo estate I let go for £100 as it had many a small job. I couldn't be arsed to sort and was not prepared to pay full price for repairs.
They are about mate, just where to look and a waiting game.
