Hoping to try the 1/4 mile at Crail on Sunday for the Fast Ford day, but will be my first time at this! Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated eg tyre pressures, how hard should front and rear suspension be set at etc for a good launch
Oh and its FWD i'm running!

Find a piece of private road and do a few practice launches to find out what rev level the car takes off best at... you want to try and achieve a balance between wheelspin and bogging down off the line.
If you're running standard road tyres then I'd probably not do massive burnouts before racing (unless Ade is kicking around with his camera
), I read that the heat will actually decrease grip levels as the tread blocks are more likely to move around.
All the best Rossatron, I should be up there providing the weather is ok. It will be good to see what times your car will do mate.
Cheers,
Grant

Or just do me and rev to the limiter and drop the clutch, the crowd with love it lol, but your car might not
Like above you just need to get a tiny bit of spin, and keep the engine revving, so good clutch control is needed

Cheers boys, not running power anything like yours but good to get some tips - actually have a pair of slicks for the front so will fire them onto spare 15s i think
Come over and say hello mate if you see me

cheers for all the tips, must say its pretty addictive! Tyre pressures made a big difference and suppose its getting the balance between traction and not boggin down during the run.
Best time was 13.7 @ 102 mph so was pretty happy with that, considering my first was a high 15!

mk4 Escort, ST170 engine with Weber Alpha throttle bodies and management, Ashley 4 branch and full Scorpion stainless, RST box, 15 inch Mo's with Toyo's and stripped out. Was dyno'd at 193 bhp couple of weeks ago.
My box is very crunchy from 1st to 2nd though so was trying not to be too harsh on it so maybe a slight improvement to be found there when its replaced....been like this for 2 years now though lol and has survived a LOT of abuse!
