Find a piece of private road and do a few practice launches to find out what rev level the car takes off best at... you want to try and achieve a balance between wheelspin and bogging down off the line.

If you're running standard road tyres then I'd probably not do massive burnouts before racing (unless Ade is kicking around with his camera ), I read that the heat will actually decrease grip levels as the tread blocks are more likely to move around.
