Advise on a2.0 pinto carburretor turbo charge

Default Advise on a2.0 pinto carburretor turbo charge

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to turbo charge pinto engine from my side draft carburettor and how much bhp I will gain?

Yes.

If its a weber then its a pain to do. If its a Dellorto then you need the turbo kit from a lotus esprit. Bothe need a rising rate fuel regulator. Then you will need to sort the ignition so it retards under boost slightly.

How much power? not much more. I got an extra 60bhp on my EFi pinto at 7psi

i have one and its boosting 4.0psi which should be closer to 8
im currently in the process of changing to an injected engine this way i can regulate the fuel
atm the car is boosting but not holding boost as it cant tell itself to supply more fuel

Hey, can u please tell me how much bar is 4 psi, and do I need to change my pistons or conrods to run that boost?

4psi is 0.276 bar. No need to change pistons or rods until over 12psi (0.82bar)

your engine should be 100% with no modifications to the block or head only the sump
you will need a closed in carb like this

im doing away with this and putting on an injection system so will probably see a new owner

what will then happen when I put a turbo on a modified engine?

you need low compession and if your engine has a cam it will fail miserably
if you want to turbo a pinto i suggest you buy a simple pinto engine and bolt it straight on
