Hi,

Had the RS box out of my focus the other day, but lost a load of oil out of it. I rang ford to find out if it uses any special oil over normal MTX75. even with the correct chassis number they had absolutely no idea, and weren't willing to even guess! Terry just said I should look in my manual, but I of course dont have one, so can someone please look in the owners manual and tell me what gearbox oil goes in a MK1 Focus RS.

 

The owners manual says high pressure gear oil 75W90. 2 Litres of it

 

That's listed in my manual for the IB5 box (type A)??? Are you totally sure?

 

That's what it says in the FRS owners supplement thingy majig

 

TRANSMISSION FLUID

Use Ford High Pressure Gear Oil SAE 75W90 or gear oil meeting Ford specification WSD-M2C 200-C.

That's word for word lol

 

Good enough for me!! I seem to think the early MTX75 used an MT specific ESD6-M2C 186-A (specced in my old manual) and I think they changed around 2000? Wasn't sure if the quaife needed some fancy oil. If that's from the official RS supplement, it's good enough for me!
